Don Morrison lived in South Africa for the first 32 years of his life, growing up in Natal. Don’s love of nature developed during his time walking to school and exploring barefoot in the bush. He loved the freedom this bought and the survival skills it taught him. Inspired to move to New Zealand due to the abhorrence he felt about the apartheid system, Don first took up a position teaching in Nightcaps and later moved to Alexandra with his family where Don taught at Dunstan High School for many years. Don continued his interest in the outdoors, becoming part of Search and Rescue, the Cavalcade, Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust and set up Outdoor Education programs for Dunstan High School.
