A trust has been formed to serve as an umbrella group for organisations and individuals with an interest in Central Otago’s heritage.
The Central Otago Heritage Trust deed was signed yesterday by trustees Graye Shattky, Mike Floate and Brian Patrick and witnessed by Central Otago Mayor Malcolm Macpherson.

‘‘It’s been a long process to this end and it’s an auspicious day,” Dr Macpherson said.

Trust chairman Mr Shattky said the heritage working party, set up at the invitation of Central Otago District Council a few years ago, would now be dissolved.

The trust’s role is to support work on heritage projects. Organisations involved include Central Stories, the Historic Places Trust and the Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust.
