Billie (Myra) Jill Tohill has a vast knowledge of the Manuherekia Valley, as well as the Clyde-Earnscleugh and Alexandra areas. This interview begins by covering her childhood, employment and musical contributions as well as activities within the Catholic church and other denominations. The remainder of the interview is very much genealogically based, and covers her maternal and paternal genealogy, her husband Joesep Tohill’s genealogy, and families within the local community. Historical information is shared on a large number of families, including the Macdonald, Harley, Hanger, Milward, Brown, Clouston, Johnston, Pitches, Duggan, Wallis and Little families; Stevens, Wood, Perkins, Jewiss and McKay families; and the Holden, Weaver, Green, McKeown, O’Laughlan, Martin, Lacey and O’Connor families. The first hour of this interview is provided here, however the remainder of the interview can be listened to upon request.

This significant body of content will be an invaluable resource for the Tohill family, as well as for the researcher or historian.
