Eric is a highly regarded photographic artist. He has a diverse style that includes social documentary, abstract and fine art imagery, with a special interest in black-and-white compostions. Eric grew up in in Wellington and was introduced to photography by his father, a German Social Democrat who managed to escape the Gestapo before the outbreak of World War II. As well as being an expert photographer, Eric enjoyed a successful career in education, developing courses in outdoor education and life skills programmes that came to be used in many schools. His teaching took a new direction when he utilised his experience in cross-country skiing to become an assessor and mentor for ski instructors. An additional aspect of Eric’s story is that he spent 30 years volunteering as an ambulance officer and develops systems for Land Search and Rescue New Zealand. Quite the Renaissance man!
