The Hull name has been prominent in Alexandra and the wider Central Otago area for over a century. In this interview Les first describes the life and times of his grandfather who emigrated from London in 1890. He continues with his father’s story, who had a business screening movies in different locations around Central Otago. Les talks about his own childhood and going to school in Alexandra, recalling how freezing cold the old stone buildings were in the winter. He goes on to talk about his own his family and the various businesses he developed. As well as being one of the foremost business owners in Alexandra, Les was deeply involved in local community activities including a gliding club, Lions Club, and Hato Hone St John.
