In this interview, Marcelle reflects on her remarkable journey from growing up in Switzerland to her life in rural Central Otago.
Marcelle shares memories of growing up on a Swiss farm and the other experiences that shaped her—including attending home economic schools; using multilingual abilities in international hotel work; taking part in an international farming exchange and other travels abroad. This leads to meeting her kiwi husband and moving to New Zealand, settling into life on a remote farm.
Marcelle describes adapting to farm life, creating beautiful gardens, and raising a family in the heart of the Teviot Valley. She talks about her involvement in community groups such as Rural Women New Zealand and local gardening clubs, as well as running popular garden tours and sharing her passion for plants.
