In this interview Stuart McIntosh chats with Russell Garbutt about his early life growing up on his father’s orchard and his experiences at primary and secondary school.  Stuart left school to take over the orchard.  He talks about the work involved in orcharding and the seasonal challenges of a typical year.  Fighting frosts with oil pots was a particularly tricky one!  Stuart recounts an interesting story about droving sheep along Earnscleugh Road, over the bridge and through Clyde to the railway station.  He also recalls experiences with rabbit control, social life, young farmers, meeting his wife and their family.  Stuart finishes with his thoughts on the future of orcharding.
