In this interview, Thomas Clement describes his journey from childhood to careers as steam locomotive driver and fireman. He outlined the work and the hours that sometimes saw him having little time between shifts. Although he was based in a number of regions, his experience on the Roxburgh- Milton line is the focus. Some tales relating to family life and specific events include a lighter side to his experiences. Thomas shares a delightful poem he wrote on the Roxburgh Branch which was included in a publication ‘Rails to Roxburgh’.
