To celebrate Central Otago’s incredible and diverse heritage, we’re inviting professional and amateur photographers to put Heritage in Focus. Central Otago Heritage Trust has teamed up with Tourism Central Otago to tell the stories of our heritage through images.

What is heritage? It’s all the things that remind us of our past

The creative boundaries are yours to define!

You may have already taken some great photos that have a focus on heritage. You can enter these photos into the competition, as long as they’ve been taken in Central Otago within the last three years.

What’s in it for me?

We have three entry categories with some great cash prizes up for grabs:

Professional Photographer: winner $750, two runners-up $500 each
Amateur Photographer: winner $500, two runners-up $300 each
Young Photographer: winner $500, two runners-up $300 each

The winning photographs in each category, as well as highly commended photographs, will form an exhibition at Clyde Museum in December 2023.

What’s in it for us?

We’d like to use the photos you enter into the competition – with credit – to help tell these stories on our websites, publications and other media. This is all about showcasing and celebrating our regional identity.

The fine print

Here’s the short version: Entry is free. You can enter up to five photographs. These photographs must be yours and taken within the Central Otago District over the last three years. You retain copyright but allow us to use the images, you shouldn’t over manipulate the image, and there are cash prizes to be won for winners and runners-up in each entry category. If you are under 18 years of age , you’ll need your parent or guardian’s permission to enter.
