Royden lives in Cromwell with his wife Sandie, and has had a long and fascinating career working as a geologist first on the Manapouri Power Projectand later for the DSIR and the Clyde Dam. He describes his work and some of the adventurous escapades during his career, working as an engineering/geological specialist on landslide, rockfall and avalanche pronesites. Royden has also been a longstanding board member of Old Cromwell, and has contributed a wealth of maps and information to the Cromwell Museum.
